Biography

Biography

Bonnie Rapaport studied at The National Academy School of Fine Art and at The Art Students League of New York with some of today's finest realists, namely, Gregg Kreutz, Sharon Sprung and Dan Gheno. She was drawn to the dramatic Chiaroscuro style seen in the masterpieces of European still lifes.

Her aim is to capture the essence of her subject through the use of dark shadows and the movement of light and air as it falls on an object to direct the eye and create a sense of drama. Using the sensuous medium of oils she gives the viewer the joy of seeing real objects; a flower, a cup, a pot; and creates paintings that move beyond the literal into the realm of the empathic. Her technique reveals the subtlety and the remarkable singularity of each object.

She has had four solo shows at The Southern Vermont Are Center and also The Yorktown Public Library. Her paintings have also been featured at the National Arts Club and the Newington-Cropsey Foundation.

Her work has appeared in numerous juried shows sponsored by:
